Regulation Updates for September:
1. Updating on the below from NG28 July 2023 Newsletter: Local laboratories in Argentina can now test WIFI 6E (5925 MHz–7125 MHz) , and the Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (ENACOM) can also issue certificates.
2. Singapore IMDA announced that 3G networks and services will be ceased from July 31, 2024, with the below implementation plan for 3G only mobile terminals and non-VoLTE capable mobile/smart phones:
- November 1, 2023 - applications will not be accepted
- February 1, 2024 - de-registration of already approved products and stop all sales
3. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) now allows 5G NR to be used and approved. The current frequency bands are 3400-3500MHz, 3500-3600MHz, and 3700-3800MHz (3600-3700MHz is not allowed).
4. Authority MTC in Laos issued Notification No. 0416 on July 21, 2023, which was effective since August 4, 2023. The main change is type 2 devices will have 1 year validity instead of the original 3 years.
5. The Saudi Arabia authority SASO and the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) announced on August 7, 2023, the plan to standardize charging ports of electronic devices to USB Type-C:
- Phase 1 (January 1, 2025) - mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, e-readers, portable video game devices, headphones, earphones, amplifiers, computer mouse, portable navigation systems, portable speakers, and wireless routers.
- Phase 2 (April 1, 2026) - laptop computers
